DeGroote Leaders
A DeGroote Leader (DL) is a senior MBA student who’s demonstrated strong leadership. DeGroote Leaders are volunteers who go through a comprehensive recruitment and training process.
Each leader is assigned a “DL group” of incoming students for the fall term (starting during Onboarding Week). Groups are assigned by the Student Experience team and usually have 7 or 8 students each. Your group’s DeGroote Leader is there to be a mentor, and to help make your MBA experience positive and memorable from the start. All the DLs are available to answer your questions and help you get started in the program.
Our DLDP Program Coordinators work with the Director of Student Experience to plan and execute recruitment of DLs, facilitate training sessions, and work with the Student Experience team to organize programming for Onboarding week. This year’s DLDP Program Coordinators are:
- Megan Haley (She/Her)
- Apeksha Bhalla (She/Her)
The DeGroote community is here to support you.

What is a quick tip you have for a first-year MBA student?

One quick tip I have for first-year MBA students is to prioritize networking from day one. Building relationships with classmates, professors, alumni, and professionals in your field can open doors to valuable opportunities both during and after your MBA. Attend networking events, join clubs and organizations, and don't hesitate to reach out to people for informational interviews or coffee chats. Besides my academic and professional pursuits, I'm an avid hiker with a passion for exploring the great outdoors. There's something incredibly freeing about hitting the trails and immersing myself in nature. Whether it's trekking through lush forests, climbing rugged peaks, or traversing scenic trails, I love the sense of adventure that comes with each hike.
